Rail Welding Work Initiated for Track Section I of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 6

On May 7th, at the construction site of Yunlin West Road Station on Ningbo Rail Transit Line 6, workers operated a mobile flash welding machine to complete the seamless welding of the first pair of rail heads, marking the official start of rail welding work for Track Section I of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 6, undertaken by the company.

Commencement of Rail Welding Operations


Track Section I of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 6 is responsible for the track-laying construction of a total of 29.539 kilometers, covering the main line, sidings from Ningbo West Hub Station (inclusive) to Songjiazao Station (exclusive), and the access line to Gaoqiao South Depot. Among this, the 2025 first-opening section, from Gulin Station to Songjiazao Station (exclusive), involves 20.888 kilometers of track-laying with 1,586 rail welding joints.

To ensure the early launch of rail welding work, the project team made advance overall plans and continuously optimized the track-laying scheme. The section from Yunlin West Road Station to Jishigang Station was designated as the first welding point, with a special construction plan for seamless tracks formulated through research. In addition, preliminary work such as type tests and drop-weight tests for welding joints was completed in advance.

Addressing adverse factors such as narrow underground tunnel space and poor air circulation, the project team made thorough preparations: deploying experienced welding technicians and putting into use advanced equipment including new energy flatbed transport vehicles, UN5-150ZB1 mobile flash-butt welder, and mobile mid-frequency normalizing machine, thus enabling the safe and rapid implementation of seamless track welding.

Up to now, the project team has completed a total of 12.983 kilometers of track-laying and installed 14 sets of turnouts. The project team will coordinate the arrangements for track-laying and rail welding, stay committed to the goal of track completion, go all out to enhance production organization, enhance quality and efficiency, and ensure work safety. It will also launch an upsurge of labor competition, steadily advancing subsequent construction with high standards and strict requirements.
